Another Second Breakfast: Our Hobbit Party 2020 (Part Two)
This is the second part of our Hobbit Party 2020 recap, you can see the first post here.
The weather this year was so lovely, so we were able to spend much of the party in the backyard! Our backyard is pretty small, more of a courtyard really, but it worked well.
We built this little Marian garden a few days before the party. It was something that we had meant to do, but hadn’t found the time for before. I love how it turned out, especially with the gliding bench! Such a peaceful spot.
I set out all of the supplies to make floral crowns, which we had done in previous parties, but we all got so busy chatting and eating that we forgot to make use of them! I’ll save them for next year.
Okay and most importantly, the food! We had two separate spreads since there were two days of parties, so I’ll start with Friday’s first.
Friday’s dinner included: “Yavanna’s Garden Salad” (similar to this recipe), a meat and cheese board, pumpkin muffins, dinner rolls + honey butter, “man flesh” (beef jerky), Lembas, mini shepherd’s pies, stuffed mushrooms, and an autumnal veggie soup (not pictured). And cake!
(This was my favorite thing and I was laughing the whole time I made the little sign. It’s a reference to this scene from The Lord of the Rings movies. Also, it’s beef jerky in case you were wondering hahaha)
On Saturday, we had more of a Second Breakfast theme, so lots of breakfasty and brunchy foods.
Saturday’s Hobbit Party menu included: Cinnamon bread, more Lembas, more muffins, more meat and cheese, a fruit tray, po-ta-toes, sausage and bacon, and egg bakes!
We finished out the party with The Desolation of Smaug! This has become one of the best parts of the party. I love this dragon piñata because it’s very sturdy and usually lasts long enough that all the kids have a chance to destroy it!
There you have it! Our glorious 2020 Hobbit Party! I hope you were inspired by these posts and that you’ll host your own next year! If you do, send me photos! I’d be so excited to see!
And before I go, I also wanted to share this cute skirt (sorry the photo is so junky, I didn’t get any good photos during the party) that I got from Kay Pop Art Studio! The perfect Hobbit Party skirt. :)
