Prime Video has announced the renewal of  The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power! This post will be updated as new information is made available.

Here’s what you need to know:

• Season three is officially underway. Filming is set to begin in Spring in the UK at Shepperton Studios. 

• Official logline: “Jumping forward several years from the events of season 2, season 3 takes place at the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron, as the Dark Lord seeks to craft the One Ring that will give him the edge he needs to win the war and conquer all Middle-earth at last.”

• There will be a time jump of ‘several years’ and it sounds like Sauron will craft the One Ring in season three.

• Director lineup: Charlotte Brändström, Sanaa Hamri, and Stefan Schwartz.

• JD Payne and Patrick McKay remain on board as showrunners and executive producers.

• Jamie Campbell Bower and Eddie Marsan will be joining the cast. Bower will be a series regular, while Marsan will appear in a recurring role.
